Born in 1952 in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Paco Padilla highlights the hidden value of Mexico's popular characters, his taste for singing and the inexhaustible possibility of combining Mexican popular tradition with current trends. In addition, this artist digs into the ancestral lyric and seeks the way of saying things, drawing the greatest juice to the flowery Spanish language. Something that he does very well and that he is passionate about.
En 1974 él gana el festival de la canción universitaria. Dos años después él comienza su carrera en la Ciudad de México con el grupo “La Propuesta”. Después de estudiar y cantar por Europa, él regresa en 1984 y forma el grupo “Tierra mojada” junto a los mejores compositores tapatíos y con una propuesta muy bien recibida para la nueva canción mexicana.
Five years later he recorded his first solo album, titled "History of a Beautiful Place". Since 1995 he has taken his different shows to the world with his group, among the most important places are "The House of America" in Madrid and the "Performing Arts of Portland Oregon".
Acknowledgments
The singer-songwriter Paco Padilla has been recognized on several occasions. The medal "Francisco Medina Ascencio" is awarded to the artistic and cultural merit of Jalisco and the "Pepe Guizar" medal, which recognizes the best composers in Mexico.
In 2004 he works with the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra and they record the album "Xaliscantos", being one of the few popular artists to perform symphonic versions of their songs.
In 2010, Paco Padilla performed 165 concerts in the country and 10 tours around United States with the project "Navel of the Moon", which tours the history of Mexico. In 2011 he recorded the album "En son de paz", reflecting on the current situation of violence.
In 2016 he receives the "Fray Antonio Alcalde" award for his work in Guadalajara's civil hospitals.
